Monthly Organic Grocery Survey: Aug 2011

August 9, 2011  Author: Staff

The table below is our first monthly survey of grocery markets in Boulder, Colorado that sell a wide variety of organic items. All prices are for August 1, 2011. All items are organic. If the market had a similar “natural” item but not an organic one, we considered that particular item “Not Available” (N/A). The products listed represent the lowest prices we could find for that particular item. No favoritism was shown. If a market had more than one brand of a particular item, we recorded the item with the cheapest price.

The goal of this survey is to inform our readers, not to bias their shopping decisions. Obviously, the prices for groceries in Boulder may have no reflection on what these items cost in your neighborhood markets—these items may not even be available in your neighborhood. We also recognize that purchasing organic food is a luxury not everyone can afford. Still, we hold organic groceries as the gold standard.

We are very interested to hear about the cost and availability of these items in your local grocery stores, so please take a minute to leave us a comment regarding this report.

Look for this monthly organic grocery survey as a way of tracking the cost of organic food (at least in Colorado).

Live well, eat well, bon apetit!

You should have compared the discount card prices at King Soopers and Safeway. The card doesn’t cost the consumer anything, and everyone uses them. They aren’t even really for a “discount,” rather, if you don’t use them, you get ripped off.
