About Bartlett’s
Bartlett’s Integrated Health Journal: What’s in a Name?
“Bartlett’s” is an homage to my father, Dr. Bartlett Saunders, who opened the world of medicine and science for me. If my dad hadn’t been a doctor and a scientific thinker, my interest in health and healing would be casual at best.
Why “Integrated”? Simple. I survived prostate cancer by embracing every modality of healing I could get my hands on. I didn’t stop to question if a type of treatment was FDA approved or a certain diet had been vetted by the USDA. I did not have the luxury of waiting for 10 years of double-blind studies to demonstrate the potential value of a particular course of treatment. I also trusted my team of professional healers: physicians, naturopaths, psychologists, dietitians, Chinese medicine practitioners, chiropractors, Rolfers, yoga masters, intuitive healers, and spiritual healers. I also learned to listen (instead of being defensive) when friends and family told me that I might benefit from taking a look at a particular behavior that wasn’t serving me. In essence, I immersed myself in an integrated healing path. The results speak for themselves. As I write this message, my cancer is in remission and all “my numbers” are well within the normal range. I have had several internationally respected urologists tell me that I will no doubt die from something other than prostate cancer. Having gone through that experience, Bartlett’s is my way of giving back by providing people with a single source of integrated medical information, so they don’t have to go searching all over creation for it.
“Health Journal” is just what it sounds like – a place where interested people go to read articles on health and healing.
